Congratulations to our Chemistry team: Justin Baird,
Alyssa Ortega, Jake Riddle, Tucker Finch, Haider Khalique.
Ellie Leavitt will stand by as an alternate. They will represent
South Elementary on the afternoon of March 14!

It will cost $1.00 for each student to participate in the Aquatic
Center Worker’s Holiday, and another $1.00 to attend the
Newsies production on March 18th.  Every student will
participate in the field trip to attend the Newsies.  (It’s not a
Worker’s Holiday).

Please watch for the American Hero List to come home.
Each student will choose a hero to represent in our Great Americans
program in May.  We have explained to our students that they will
need to select 10 or so heroes from the list, since our students’ names
will be pulled out of a hat.  Their first (or second) choices may already
be taken. We know this is early in the year, but students will need to
write a report, sketch a portrait (in art class), find a costume, and
memorize a small part.

We’ve added the Science Expo to the calendar above, although it isn’t
until April.  We want students to be thinking about a project. They can
invent something, investigate something, or research something.
We will send a letter home later with details

Students have been taking mid-year assessments in math, science,
writing, and language arts. These tests show us how well each students
is doing and what we need to teach them to help them succeed in 5th grade.

We enjoyed meeting with you at SEPs.  We value your association, communication,
and support, and we enjoy watching these students grow in knowledge and mature
into responsible young people.
