           FIFTH GRADE NEWSLETTER
APRIL 18, 2018

Parents,
We had a great day on our field trip, yesterday.  Thanks to the parents that came with us,
for their help.  It is always nice to have a few extra hands to help us out on field trips.
We hope to be getting scripts out to the students, for the Great American Program,
within the next week or two.  Once your child receives their script, we ask that you work with
him/her to get their part memorized. We hope that you have been able to find some sort of
costume for your child’s character.  If you are having a struggle with this, please let us know.
On Saturday, April 28th is the Kite Flight celebration at Cedar Middle School.
Students should have kept track of their reading minutes, on their purple Kite Flight Calendar.
They give their reading calendar to the people running the Kite Flight, and then they can receive
a kite or a book, in return.  Our school earns money for every student that hands in their
Kite Flight Calendar.
If students don’t want to stay for the celebration, they don’t have to, but please make an effort to
hand in the reading calendar, so our school can earn some extra money. If you need another
calendar, please have your child ask us for one.
We will be starting our test reviews at the end of this week and will continue reviewing
subject matter throughout next week.  The End of Level testing will begin on April 30th.
Please make sure your child attends school on a regular basis so they don’t miss reviews
and actual testing.  Students need to let us know if they will be gone during testing, so we can
reschedule make up testing times for them.  The testing schedules are listed below.
The Reading Revolution awards are coming up quickly, so please make sure that your child is
getting those last few reading revolution reports turned into their teacher.  The last day for Book
Reports for Mrs. Little and Mrs. Williams students, or Journals for Mrs. Payne’s students,
will be May 11th.
Please send in a white cotton T-shirt (new or old) by May 4. Be sure to write your child’s
name on the tag on inside bottom hem in permanent marker.
The next newsletter and progress report will be sent home on May 2, 2018.
Please be sure check the schedule below for some the events coming up for the rest of April
and for May.
Thanks for all that you do to help us with your children.
Mrs. Little, Mrs. Payne and Mrs. Williams
